About NHL Gauntlet

NHL Gauntlet is five rounds a day. Each round puts fifteen NHL players or teams on screen, from ten seasons of points, goals, assists and goaltending, and asks for the top three of a ranking.

How to play

1. Read the ranking: which stat, and which season.
2. Everything you could pick is already on screen. Only the order is hidden, so choose the names you think rank highest.
3. You get four picks, and your best three count.

Scoring

Each pick is scored on where it sits among the names not yet picked. The best one remaining always earns full marks, 33.3 points, and anyone lower down still earns part of that. A round is out of 100 and a day out of 500.

Tips

• Know which way a goalie stat runs. For goals-against average the best is the lowest, and the round asks for the best three. For save percentage the best is the highest.
• Separate the scorers from the playmakers. A points leader and a goals leader are often different players.
• Use your fourth pick on the closest call, because only your best three count.

Good to know

A new board goes up every day at midnight Eastern, the same for everybody. Your first finished run goes on the leaderboard, and past days stay playable in the archive.
